WE ARE PART OF GAIA ECOSYSTEM

A group of social experts within the GAIA Group recognized the need for enhanced approaches to address social and environmental issues in development projects. Dissatisfied with existing methods, they conceived the idea of establishing a professional consulting firm focused on integrative, innovative, and applicable socio-environmental research.

 

This idea swiftly materialized into an agreement, leading to the establishment of a consulting firm under the GAIA Group. The firm’s mission is to provide comprehensive and in-depth consultancy services to  corporations, academic circumstances, government and non-governmental organizations, with a primary emphasis on understanding the social and environmental aspects of development.

KEY PERSON

Iis Sabahudin S.Hut., M.Si., LCPC

Founder

Iis finished his bachelor degree in foresty (University of Tanjungpura) and Master's degree in anthrotpology (Univeristas Indonesia) As forester iis is competent to work on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) related issues. He Develops skill as anthropologist specifically in conflict resolution and ethnography with participatory research appraisal methods. In order to bring Anama into its vision, Iis has been associated with a variety of entrepreneurial communitiees and has participated in various leadership, managerial and business skills development capacities.

Sundjaya S.sos, M.Si.

Founder

With over 20 years experience, Sundjaya has been helping many national and international organization in has Project Monitoring and Evaluation Expert. His background in anthropology strengthened his intuition in developng the best strategy in adaptive management. He has been providing services to projects form ADB, World Bank, MCA and also EU in setting up the projects indicators, using the precise means of verification to ensure the project deliverables.

Holds a Doctoral degree from the Institue of Social Anthropology. University of Freiburg in 2019 and obtained his master degree from EHESS Paris at 2014. He is now Assistant Professor at the Department of Anthropology, Universitas Indonesia and also the chairman for Undergraduate Program, Department of Anthropology Universitas Indonesia. In the past ten years. He was involved in several research collaborations with Fauna & Flora International and other research institution in doing social, economy, and cultural ethnographical assessment related to various schemes of community based forest management and livelihood analysis.

Rian I Sihombing, S.sos.

Director

An Anthropology graduate from Universitas Indonesia with close to 10 years of fieldwork experience in various regions of Indonesia concerning natural resource management, indigenous communities, human and non-human relation, and corporate community relation. He has the necessary expertise in applied research and research management to actuate company vision and future development.

Darmawan Liswanto

Senior Advisor Associate

Has over 25 years experience working in Indonesia on nature conservation, particularly related to protected area management, species conservation, forest governance and law enforcement. Since 2007 Darmawan has been actively promoted public. Private and people partnership to strengthening biodiversity conservation efforts on the ground. To realizing strong partnership, he actively involved in RSPO discussions in Indonesia both with NGO's and business communities. Darmawan served as an Expert Coordinator for the High Conservation Value RSPO Indonesia Working Group (HCV RIWG) to develop a HCV Area Management Manual for Oil Palm Plantations. Darmawan has actively promoted HCV Assessment in oil palm plantations as wel as timber concession as a key tool to develop best management practices to integrate biodiversity conservation and RSPO Principles and Criteria in plantation operation

Khidir M. Prawirosusanto, S.Ant., M.A.

Social Expert Associate

Teaches Anthropology at UGM. His research focuses on the intersection of anthropology with urban studies, development, and infrastructure. He authored the book Mimpi Kemakmuran dalam Pemukiman : Kepenertiban dan Perubahan Sosiokultural Orang Suku Laut di Kepulauan Riau (UGM Press 2022).
He is now a doctoral candidate in Anthropology and Geography at Universiteit van Amsterdam with research focus on spatial transformation, rural-urban planning, and aviation infrastructure.
